Requirements for admission to the Master of Science in Architecture Program: Each application packet must include 1). the MSU Graduate School Application -- accessible at: http://www.msstate.edu/dept/admissions/ 2). a portfolio and Resume -- sent directly to the College of Architecture. Statement of purpose (Part of the MSU Graduate School Application ) Applicants should describe their interests in the Master of Science program, their proposed area(s) of investigation, their career goals or plan, and how the graduate program at CAAD figures into these plans. Transcripts and other test scores (Part of the MSU Graduate School Application ) Applicants must submit transcripts of prior academic experiences as required by the Graduate School. A minimum GPA of 2.75 is recommended, and significantly higher performance in course work within the applicant's discipline is sought. GRE scores are not required but should be submitted if available. International students must have a TOEFL score of 600 or above (250 or above on computer based test - for scores below 250, contact spittman@coa.msstate.edu). Letters of recommendation (Part of the MSU Graduate School Application ) Applicants should submit three letters of recommendation specifically addressing their qualifications. Letters should be solicited from individuals well acquainted with the applicants through academic or employment circumstances and should speak to the applicants' enthusiasm and passion for their work, capacity for self-directed study, and potential for future success. Applicants should make every attempt to obtain letters that support the arguments made in item 1 above. Portfolio: Evidence of appropriate skills Successful applicants are expected to provide evidence of strength in one of three areas: design or design process, the use of computer graphics or design software, programming, and are expected to demonstrate an interest and/or experience in the other two. This strength may have been gained through academic or professional activity. In the design disciplines, evidence of skill is generally demonstrated by means of a portfolio of creative work. A portfolio may be submitted in hard copy directly to the School of Architecture; through a web location or as a digital copy on a CD or Zip disk. Resume: Description of professional or discipline-related work Because the program is inter-disciplinary, evidence is sought of each candidate's discipline-related experiences outside the academic arena. Such experiences might include employment, participation in research activities, and involvement in competitions, publications, or other activities as appropriate. This evidence may be submitted in the form of a resume directly to the School of Architecture.
